Jak of Cænden, First Ðard of Lady Rott

Jak was once a bridge guardian for the Village of Cænden, in the run-off marshes outside the City of Oð. In 652 DR, Jak assembled an adventuring band to retrieve a local elder’s riches from the depths of the Nar Drūden, a mission that would precipitate the death of his father. Consequent events would bring the peasant guard and his associates to the notice of local nobility and eventually lead to his bastard knighthood at the hands of the would-be usurper of the Iron Throne. For these and other actions and associations, the High Lord dispatched Jak and his band from the Iron Kingdom, to lands far away. It is his hope to return to one day return to Oð and be reunited with his newlywed wife Dadra.

Jak (of Cænden, the Younger, the Red, Ðard of the Urdàri Queen), son Jak the Elder of Cænden, grew to fill his father’s boots as watchman on the mist-shrouded bridges of the Village of Cænden, a marshy borough of the City of Oð. All was as it should be until he joined with an adventuring group and his experiences triggered a flow of events which would result in his father’s murder and turn his quiet home town on its ear. True to his calling, Jak has always been available to defend his home but never has there been such a need as now, and the blame for these ill times has fallen squarely on his shoulders.

Jak and Dadra Rumm of Cænden were married on 28 Drûr 652 DR in the Village of Cænden, Oð. In 653 DR, Jak and his companions were sent by the High Lord of Oð on a doomed mission to retrieve and deliver a message to the High Lady of Taldàna. The Dragul Box was retrieved from the Ort Bragnar Bar and delivered to Elésea the Ninth, High Priestess of Amra. The message within was revealed to be an invitation for the Old Empire city-state of Taldàna to join the High Lord’s war. This revelation and a curse on one of Jak’s companions has sent him further from home, with many more destinations and trials to overcome before he can return. Despite all that lies before him, Jak is resolute to return to his wife and child and bring prosperity to his small village.
