The Savage Cradle

The windswept grasslands of the Lower Plains are home to the largest ungulate herds of Teréðor. Wild deer, antelope, bison, and ponies roam the plains, tirelessly pursued by nomadic tribes. These Yrūni hunters travel, camp, and hunt using the same methods that their ancestors did thousands of years ago. Despite being surrounded by advancing civilizations, the people of the Lower Plains hew to stone-age customs and tools. Over the centuries, many kingdoms have interrupted this as a weakness, but all have been educated otherwise. The Lower Plains Yrūn maintain an uneasy truce with the Middle Kingdoms Ortor to the west. Occasionally, skirmishes erupt from both sides. Outsiders that have witnessed these conflicts report that determining which people are more savage is impossible.

Most trading centers appear and disappear on a regular calendar, known to natives and those they trust. Furs from the Lower Plains are prized from the Ring of Saráddir to snowy Arynzàlvya.
