Peráram Coast

The Southern Kingdoms

The Peráram Coast is home to the oldest Yrūn communities in southern Tassèrus. Named after the Lanàdan explorer Ollùk Peráram, the existing towns and villages of this region can be traced back to the original colonies established in the Ancient Reckoning. Despite this early history, the people of the region have never considered themselves to be Dekàlyr.

The Southern Kingdoms have a long history of resisting the Old Empire’s efforts to consolidate Yrūn holdings in the region. Following the First (194 HK) and Second (269 HK) Sha’al-Dekàli Wars, Dekàli armies sought to grab power in the lands they between Jædð and the Scaled Lands. Both times the Southern Kingdoms had to resort to open rebellion in order to force the Dekàli armies from their lands. Following the Second Sha’al-Dekàlan War, the war-weary armies were pushed from Iridth into Æva Tereð where they proceeded to overthrow the government and establish one of their generals as Lord of the land. Today, Æva Tereð remains a province of Jædð, though a rebellious sentiment remains over 1600 years later.

Regions, Geographic

This relatively small geographical area is sub-divided into smaller regions by a series of hill and mountain ranges. Travel between the regions is difficult except along the coasts. The natural northern barrier has long provided the area a much-needed shield against inhabitants of the Vast Untamed.

Regions, Political

Only two political regions remain along the Peráram Coast, and one of those is a province of Jædð.

Regions, Historical

Four of the original Southern Kingdoms no longer exist, subsumed by Iridth and the western holdings of the Sha’al. Although the Peráram Coast is not considered to extend beyond Iridth, the Southern Kingdoms that once comprised this region extended beyond the Strait of Kahir and along the Bleeding Coast. For historical purposes, those holdings are included here.
