Gæbòl Fel

Bloodcaps

Perhaps the most vile of the Feyri are the Gæbòl Fel. These creatures appear as short fat anthropoids with wide grinning faces. They are distinguishable from other Feyri by their pointed teeth and signature red hats, dyed in the blood of their prey.

Physiology

Gæbòl Fel range from two to three feet in height. They typically appear to be short, portly men with dark ringed staring eyes and flaring nostrils. Bloodcap mouths are filled with pointed teeth.

All Feyri are slaves to a desire of some kind. The Gæbòl Fel are slaves to their insatiable hunger for Awakened flesh. These carnivorous Feyri Fel seek out sickly, weak, or abandoned beings to feast upon. Stories tell of how the Gæbòl Fel seek out old widows, alone in remote cottages, and begin to feed on their living flesh while their victims scream and writhe. The bite of the Gæbòl Fel releases a slow-acting immobilizing venom that does nothing to ease the prey’s pain but instead slows the victim’s muscle response. One effect of the venom is that the slowed heart pumps blood slower, so that the victim does not bleed to death, keeping the meat fresher for a prolonged meal. This combined with the Feyri’s supernatural strength makes the infirm helpless before the Gæbòl Fel’s feasting. When a victim has died, the Bloodcap is believed to soak his hat in the blood of his victim, restoring its vibrant red color.

Psychology

Bloodcaps are voracious carnivores. If they have other motivations, they are not apparent.

Observed interactions between the Gæbòl Fel and other Feyri show them to be irritable, single-minded, and vengeful. Other Feyri sub-races keep their distance from the Bloodcaps, who are not above snatching lesser Feyri and devouring them on the spot. At least one famous Illyri painting of the creatures, shows its chin and shirt stained with the blood and torn wings of other Feyri.

Culture

The Gæbòl Fel do not exist in groups within the Waking World. All accounts of the creatures involve individuals working alone.

Language

Bloodcaps speak the same language as all Feyri. If different languages and dialects exist within the Shadow Realms, they are unknown to the Waking World.

Religion

All Feyri revere their Feyri Ralāe as the progenitors of their kind.

Magic

The Gæbòl Fel are not known to Weave spells though there is no reason to believe that they cannot.

Bloodcaps are believed able to disguise themselves as mushrooms of half their size. In this form, the Gæbòl Fel are believed to be particularly vulnerable to physical attacks. A beheaded Bloodcap mushroom is supposed to be an excellent source for a syrupy red immobility poison.
