Gormòrjir

The Great Well

The world is not as solid as most would prefer it to be. A number of global locations have been documented where the land has either collapsed or been perforated, leaving giant wells that lay open the world’s internals to the sky above. One of the largest and most well-known of these wells is Gormòrjir, within the Dreamland jungles of Jædð. There are many theories regarding the creation of the Great Well, though no firsthand accounts of its appearance. The account that most closely resembles an eyewitness report is detailed in the First Age records of the Dergàrdgurün people of Vulmùra. What remains of these ancient records tell of terrific earthquakes that could be felt throughout the known world. The event was thought to be the result of a giant volcano or perhaps a meteor crashing into uncharted southern lands. The result was a century of earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and darkness for more than a century.

Today, the Great Well yawns from the floor of the Jædðàri jungles, a massive porthole into the world’s interior. Strange and dangerous vapors swim within the giant recess, seeping from reservoirs deep within the world.
