Ðardèð Dnur

Death Knight

The Ðardèð Dnur are powerful Restless sentries used by Drāūnites to protect high value assets. A Dekàlan-era historian described a circle of the death knights that kept sleepless vigil around the the Kyrm Orydnur of Ildûn before the Devastation. Each of the Ðardèð Dnur were armed and armored as they were in life, each having served the Temple in some exemplary fashion before their Making. According to secondary sources (i.e., Drāūnites do not speak on the matter), the true horror of their Making lay in the fact that their Making occurred before their natural death. The process of creating a Ðardèð Dnur is reported to be horribly painful. In undeath however, the stalwart defenders of the faith are able to serve their ambiguous deity until their physical form is destroyed.

Physiology

Technically, Ðardèð Dnur are similar to other Restless specimens. They are unable to heal without magical assistance. The death knights are imbued with great power however, which acts to suspend all aging and decay. New and uninjured death knights look only vaguely dissimilar from living, breathing people. Close examination may reveal lack of breath, pulse, and eye movement (e.g., blinking, dilation). In some instances, the eyes are sewn closed and hidden behind bandages, visors, and the like.
