Ra-Ru

Foreword

The Gated Nave, as its name suggests, is separated from the rest of the library by a pair of large ornate Ormic gates. The gates are sealed by a series of sigils and locks, the keys to which are carried by a cohort of elder librarians that do their best to avoid visitors and one another. The great gates have not been opened for many years, with good reason. Beyond the bars lies a great domed hall from which radiates five transepts, each lined from floor to ceiling with crowded bookshelves. It is upon these shelves that arcane and forbidden lores molder and are rendered unreadable by the worms and vermin that thrive on ancient pages. The scriveners make no attempt to save these works for fear of reviving old secrets and powers best forgotten. It is not a place where one might find a volume that includes all entries from Ra through Ru.

Pronunciation Key: R (soft r = rabbit, rhyme)
