Jak awoke at the inn and went to look at a nearby general store. Finding nothing in the store, he prepared to leave but was knocked aside by a large explosion. Jak helped locals extinguish fires ignited by the explosion while Alcèrra arrived to tend the injured. Mishara followed some mysterious figures away from the scene but after a brief verbal confrontation with their grog, returned to the inn. On his way back along the road he encountered Jak hiding behind an embankment with a large parcel, heading home to the marsh. Mishara convinced Jak that fleeing the scene would make him seem guilty and together they both returned.

An interrogation followed at the inn, with Jak telling detailed stories of the group’s adventures.

Roydor, 8 Tolð 652

In the morning, a second interview took place with a robed man named Foulstern, who seemed interested in a recurring name in the group’s stories, Ændroth.

After a small recess he ordered the guards to allow the group to leave. The group went to Cænden and met with Jak the Elder, Jak’s father, where they learned of Cogham’s death. After a long discussion, they returned to Jōçim’s farm for the night.

Sūdìdor, 9 Tolð 652

They returned to the marshes again the next day. Visiting Mothsmire, where the marsh is gray with clay, they go to Cogham’s residence, and then to the mother of Daggan the Thug. They are asked to leave and do so. On their way back to the gate of Wesridge, they learn that someone was asking about Jak last night, and turn back to Cænden to see how Jak the Elder fares. He is missing. The group spends all night looking for Jak’s father, to no avail.

Talídor, 10 Tolð 652

In the morning, Alcèrra was able to find the corpse of an unidentified man, recently skewered, face down in the mud, not far from Jak the Elder’s home. The group followed a path toward Darshshell and came across a grim site of ambush and the skewered body of Jak the Elder. Jak carried his father back to the Cænden Graves. Once there, Alcèrra performed the Rites of Drāūn over his father’s body, the first time the rite had been performed in Oð in hundreds of years. Alcèrra was later shown that the Fiery Wench Tavern floor, the only dry place in town, was constructed from ancient gravestones bearing the mark of her Cult.
