Tædàs Gur

Northfields Farmer

  • Born: Unknown
  • Died: Sharak 651 DR

The City of Oð is packed with thousands of residents that would live and die in eternal obscurity if not for some scrap of paper, public record, or merchant’s receipt. Such is the case of Tædàs Gur, anonymous except for a son employed at Kryçàryn and a small leather journal discarded with a satchel by the side of a Northfields road. The small leather book was poorly bound. Pages shifted and slipped free of the spine the more it was handled. The handwriting within was also poor, crafted by the unsteady hand of a man who was taught penmanship at the family table. The entries were brief and if studied for a time, legible.

  • Springday. No word from Engar.
  • Springday. Plants doing well. Something eating seedlings along the south fence. Footprints like a child.
  • Springday. New plow worked good. Priest said it was blessed.
  • Springday. New child. Her name is Anga, after her grandmother.
  • Summerday. Anga dead. Had to rebuild south fence, someone is tearing it down.
  • Summerday. Plants doing well. Got letter from Engar.
  • Summerday. Hope it stops raining.
  • Summerday. Buried wife.
  • Autumnday. Going into Oð tomorrow. The holiday is here again.
  • Autumnday. Back home. Got my plow blessed again. Put metal ring on wife’s grave. Saw Engar at temple. He’s getting to be a big man.
  • Autumnday. Harvest finished.
  • Winterday. Miss my wife. Polished her grave ring. Walked the fence. Something is tearing down the south fence again. Will rebuild tomorrow.
  • Winterday. Hip deep snow. Tarn built a man from snow.
  • Winterday. Letter from Engar. Says Urdàryr have been seen in woods. Sharpened ax.

Dennis’ notes: The Journal of Tædàs Gur is the earliest item developed for the Oðári Tales, but it was never found. In the typed notes I prepared before the first game, it’s listed as ITM-1.
