Knowledge of Kuriz

Knowledge of Kuriz (Dragàmyr orádra-çīris Inkàðura)

Knowledge of Kuriz permits the Weaver to uncover the distant history of a present item, place, or person. Other psychometric spells elicit information from the object itself. Knowledge of Kuriz uses the object as a focus but draws information from the folds of Time. Although the spell often draws upon significant events from the target’s past, the Weaver cannot control what period or events are recalled.

Ogìmir had unbridled access to all Kryr Shùrulm but the Lord’s Chambers, yet he descended the stone stairs with great apprehension. He wondered whether there were secrets that should never be revealed, made sacred by the price of blood, time, and sacrifice. He thought deeply on this but it did not keep him from pushing deeper and deeper into the old fortress. Finally, at the end of a long hallway, he spied a familiar red light seeping around the edges of a heavy door. Beyond the wood and iron, he could hear the guards’ conversation. They spoke of mundane matters, worlds from their solemn duty. Ogìmir threw open the door and both men startled to attention. Between them sat a waxen corpse surrounded by candles burning with fitful red flames. It sat with its chin arranged thoughtfully in one hand, meeting the viewer’s gaze with the terrible judgment of impassive glass eyes. The body was posed like a stuffed animal in the shape of a man but it was not a man at all. While the years had been unkind to the old corpse, its inhuman features were still apparent. Its wide eyes and elongated ears betrayed its Eylfāe birth. This was Valsàhdylárayhn, the only seated Governor of Oð during the Occupation. The histories of Oð remembered him as the architect and overseer of most brutal period of the city-state. After his death his body was prepared and brought here to moulder slowly in the dungeon of Kryr Shùrulm, a prison within a prison. Why? Because the body had been specially prepared to prevent the Eylfāe’s spirit from escaping this lifeless vessel. Learning of this, Ogìmir was unable to resist the opportunity to learn more. Standing before the old magistrate on his piss-soaked throne of skulls, Ogìmir Foulstern weaved a spell.

Details

The Weaver must be in close proximity to the focus of the spell. Distance from the focus affects the spell’s chance similar to a ranged spell. Repeated Weavings of the spell, using the same focus, may produce similar results.
