Salàna’s Curse

Salàna’s Curse (Dragàmyr sorádra Kadàktrū)

Salàna’s Curse is a geis.

Details

The magician curses the subject to fulfill an obligation that is set at the time of casting. The subject must understand the quest before the geis takes effect. Understanding of the spell’s consequences are not required. The obligation must be a task that is reasonable for the target to complete. Once the geis is fulfilled, or the curse lifted, all temporary loses are recovered. Once placed, geasa cannot be removed without the target present.

Less commonly, the spell can be used to set a reasonable prohibition (e.g., welcome all strangers to your fire, eat only uncooked food, do not bathe). When used in this manner, a penalty may be incurred whenever the prohibition is ignored or circumvented. The obligation geis is less common because it is open-ended.

For every half-month that passes without tangible progress toward completing the obligation geis, the target temporarily loses one dot in a Mental, Physical, or Social trait determined by the weaver at the time of weaving. A subject can have up to three geasa upon him concurrently, but no more than one can apply to any of three traits. A prohibition geis works the same.

Mana spent on geasa are not recovered until the curse is lifted or the target dies. The magician’s death does not interrupt the curse.

Components

A piece of the subject’s body (e.g., hair, fingernail clipping, spit). The item is consumed during the spell’s weaving.
