Arkèdyen’s Calm is a simple spell that soothes the temperament of beasts.
It was the horses that heard them first. Ortor were moving through the valley, banging shields and Chagkra in cadence with their midnight march. Somûn groaned as he climbed to his feet and straightened his beard. He then quietly circled the fire waking the others. Maynda rose quickly and tended to the animals. Moving between the horses, she spoke the Wōdric words that put them at ease. Her companions hurriedly took down the camp. Sword in hand, Somûn moved to the camp’s edge and listened. The Ortor formation was still far away but their scouts could be anywhere. Nearby, the hirelings cinched saddles and tied bundles to the horses’ backs, cursing their decision to join this expedition.
Details
Casting of the spell requires that the target be able to see the Weaver and hear the Wōdric incantations. Any sudden or aggressive movements or displays by the Weaver will cause the enchantment to fail. For purposes of this spell, a beast is any creature of low intelligence with no inherent magical nature or ability. Arkèdyen’s Calm instills a soothing calm within the creature. Domestic creatures have a slightly worse chance to resist.
