First Oðàri House of Jurn

418-504 HK. First Oðàri House of Jurn. House of Salágus the First of Oð through his grandson Mardàrak the First of Oð.

The first ruling Dekàli dynasty of Oð were descendants of a much older ruling family from the region. The House of Jurn was likely selected by the priests of Roð based on the renown of the King’s great uncle, Salágus the Pious. Known to historians as Salágus the Vældyrim and Salágus the Patriarch (though he was childless), this figure was famous for unerringly guiding supply ships into the Kre Dùlnar during terrible spring storms, while the City was gripped with famine following the Winter of 334 HK. The seas were high and the harbor was choked with shifting ice, capable of crushing ships. The priest, attributing his talent for reading waves and currents to Roð, would stand on the bow of incoming ships and direct them safely to the interior docks. Following the Winter of 334 HK, Salágus spent the remainder of his years studying natural occurring patterns and motions and applying them to engineering design. His prolific drawings and understanding of complex systems were instrumental in the later design of aqueduct systems, airships, and blackpowder weaponry.

The House of Jurn served for the shortest period of any Oðàri royal house. The pinnacle achievement of this dynasty occurred on the very first day with the crowning of Salágus I and the blessing of the Iron Crown by Ragyrfarfyrdragulð of Oð. Another notable event was the completion of the Dægwùrdunjun in 480 HK.
