First Jædðàri House of Sulūð

197- HK.

Lineage

  1. King Kalzar the First of Irídð. He was born circa 167 HK at Irídð. He married circa 185 HK to Orélen, a common woman. He was elevated to Lord Magistrate of Æva Tereð in 191 HK, for exemplary service to the Dekàli Colonial Guard. Chosen by the Wizard High Queen Avàlðiran III, Kalzar was crowned by the priests of Sūdul in 197 HK at Kyrm Orysūdul in accordance with the Pact of Lanádrynágdralyð. It is unclear why the High Queen chose to rename the King’s household after the Run Sùlūð. There were few Yrūn in Jædð when the King was crowned, except for retiring soldiers, a handful of troublesome slave survivors, and colonists migrating from the Sha’ala borders. Kalzar I’s main objective in the early years of his reign was to attract settlers from the empire and elsewhere. This was not easy as southern Tassèrus had a well-earned reputation for being inhospitable to Yrūn. His efforts were soon eased by widespread reports of abundant minerals, herbs, and drugs that could be freely harvested throughout the Dreamlands. By 203 HK, the port was teeming with prospectors, farmers, and entrepreneurs. He died in 222 HK. The Sleeping Crown passed to his daughter…
  2. Queen Orélen the First of Irídð. She was born in 188 HK at Irídð. She married in 203 HK to Lord Terēr of Irídð. She was crowned by the priests of Sūdul in 222 HK at Kyrm Orysūdul. The Queen had extravagant tastes for food, drugs, and jewels. She imposed heavy taxes to support the building of elaborate estates and gardens throughout the fledgling state. Her excesses, culminating in an improved Sleeping Crown, made her very unpopular. At a banquet in 231 HK, the Queen was seized with fits of coughing blood. Struggling to speak, the Queen croaked “Poison” before collapsing. The Sleeping Crown passed to her sister…
  3. Queen Dirēeð the First of Æva Tereð. She was born in 192 HK at Æva Tereð. She married in 208 HK to newly-landed Lord Avàras of Æzàlar. She was crowned by the priests of Sūdul in 231 HK at Kyrm Orysūdul. On the day of her coronation, she removed the newly placed crown and used a dagger to pry jewels from it. The astonished audience watched silently as she handed these to a priest and commanded they be used to build public hospitals in Jædð, Vimir, and Marádaç, the largest cities in 3rd century Jædð. Next, she revoked many of the taxes imposed by her predecessor, a popular pronouncement that was never fully implemented. These gestures pacified her critics for a short time. By 235 HK, whispers of rebellion wound through the streets of Jædð. People claimed that taxes (e.g., import levies, docking fees, permits) remained too high. It’s unclear whether Dirēeð I was oblivious or indifferent to the people’s demands. She died from poisoning in 236 HK, a popular remedy for royalty. The Sleeping Crown passed to her son…
  4. King Vārēeð the First of Jædð. He was born in 209 HK at Jædð. He married in 224 HK to Lady Māáda of Æzàlar, a paternal cousin. He was crowned by the priests of Sūdul in 231 HK at Kyrm Orysūdul. He exceeded the Sleeping Crown in 261 HK and was enthroned at Kryr Trèmendūm. He died in 278 HK. The Sleeping Crown passed to his son…
  5. King Kalzar the Second of Jædð. He was born in 226 HK at Jædð. He married in 245 HK to Lady Vēéra of Irídð. He was crowned by the priests of Sūdul in 261 HK at Kyrm Orysūdul, following the exceedance of his father, Vārēeð I. He and his father led the Jædðyr to victory against the Dreamlands Sha’al by 269 HK, extending the state’s borders to their present size. He survived many poisoning attempts but was finally killed in 269 HK, while celebrating his victory. The Sleeping Crown passed to his daughter…
  6. Queen Vēéra the First of Jædð. She was born in 245 HK at Jædð. As heir apparent, she was shipped to Lanàdus for safe-keeping in the household of her grandfather, the High King. She returned to Jædð in 269 HK and was crowned by the priests of Sūdul at Kyrm Orysūdul. She was poisoned the day after her coronation in 269 HK. The Sleeping Crown passed to her sister…
  7. Queen Dirēeð the Second of Jædð. She was born in 246 HK at Jædð. She was crowned by the priests of Sūdul in 269 HK at Kyrm Orysūdul. She lived two days before she was killed by her Lady-in-Waiting. The Sleeping Crown passed to her brother…
  8. King Kalzar the Third of Jædð. He was born in 247 HK at Jædð. He was married to Lady Elzīa of Jædð in 266 HK. He was crowned by the priests of Sūdul in 269 HK at Kyrm Orysūdul, the fourth monarch within a half-month. The King immediately dismissed the royal household and surrounded himself with strange violet voiceless anthropoids called Nūð. The creatures swiftly proved their worth, as two were killed while protecting the King within the first month of his reign. When word of the new household “Violet Guard” reached Lanàdus, the High King responded with a letter or warning regarding the curious slave race. Before his coronation, Kalzar III was trained as a magician of the Drāgyr Zûn. He continued his studies during his reign and is believed to “conferred” extensively with members of his Violet Guard. Kalzar III established a new position in his King’s Cabinet in 277 HK, the mysterious Dragùl Lorgra (i.e., Tongue of the Dragul). Members of the Cabinet were horrified by the new member, but bound to secrecy. By 278 HK, it became apparent that the King was growing very ill. The King’s Cabinet was aware of his condition years before, but did their best to hide the truth. The truth was that Kalzar III had undertaken an expensive regimen of prophylactic poison antidotes for eight years, and the antidotes were slowly killing him. He died in 278 HK, outliving his grandfather, the High King, by two months. The Sleeping Crown passed to his son…
  9. King Kalzar the Fourth of Jædð. He was born in 267 HK at Jædð. Like his father and aunts before him, Kalzar IV was schooled in Lanàdus under the protections of the High King. He was summoned to Jædð before his father’s death, the first time he’d visited his homeland since birth. Kalzar III spoke to his son at length from his deathbed on matters of state and surviving in Jædð, before fading into Dream. He was crowned by the priests of Sūdul in 278 HK at Kyrm Orysūdul, aged 11. In 282 HK, he married Lady Anàdēa of Gormòrjir. His wife and children were killed by Brū while visiting her home. In 297 HK, he married Lady Toróça of Jædð. The wedding was beset by assassins, but Kalzar IV managed to escape with assistance from his Violet Guard. His wife was killed. In 300 HK, he married Lady Vāélla of Lanàdus at Kyrm Trèmendūm. He returned to an undisclosed location in Jædð, preferring to rule and live outside the capital. He moved his family frequently between estates, but could not run forever. In 323 HK, the old king was poisoned and died near Alélim. The Sleeping Crown passed to his daughter…
  10. Queen Ejmàla the First of Jædð. She was born in 301 HK near Marádaç. She was crowned by the priests of Sūdul in 323 HK at Kyrm Orysūdul. Her coronation is well remembered because the Gorpryn Sūdul suffered a heart attack and dropped the Sleeping Crown. Ejmàla I finished the benediction and crowned herself.
