Kandar the White was a famous wizard in the 5th century DR. In the 7th century DR, he is best remembered for the explosion that erased his mansion from the streets of Oð. Many bones were found among the ruins though none were ever identified as Kandar’s. The story of his calamitous ending is familiar to most Oðan natives. Most don’t recall however, that the wizard’s fame was due to his being the High Adviser to three High Lords.

On the night of 8 Tolð 652 DR, an old man stumbled into the Lord’s Ale Tavern claiming to be the Wizard Kandar. The man was noticeably unclean and after much complaining from the regular clientele, the tavern-keeper forcibly removed him from the establishment. Days afterward, the tavern-keeper was struck blind by a strange illness and had bills posted throughout the city offering 400d to anyone who could find the man and bring him back, so that he could apologize for his actions. Though few believed the visitor was truly the ancient wizard, many were convinced that the tavern-keeper was cursed. Business at the Lord’s Ale Tavern dwindled and within two months the Merchants’ Guild foreclosed on the business.
