Lor Dànið was one of the most contentious dynasties ever to wear the Living Crown. This was best illustrated In 288 DR, when the Gor Ordus Kændlan convened a secret meeting to review their methods for choosing the next ruler. The newly elected High Priest sought to uncover some reason to depose the reigning High Lady (i.e., Tanāda the Heretic) and banish the royal family from the realm. At one point, the bodies of the selection committee were exhumed and interrogated by a Drāūni inquisitor. No evidence of tampering or illegality in the selection of the Barber Lord could be found. The ascension of the High Lady’s brother, Gāírmar II, and his efforts toward reconciliation reduced the Temple’s concerns at a critical time. Lineage

1. High Lord Soryn Dōmi the First of Kændal. The Barber Lord. Soryn Dōmi was a distant cousin to the late High Lord Zyan. When the Kændlànyr found him, he was a journeyman barber, having set-up a shop in southern Gidðir. His family’s descent from royalty to working class within three generations is not clearly understood. It is possible that his cabinet did all they could to erase his past. The High Lord is remembered as one of the least effective rulers of post-Dekàli Kændal. Within five years of his crowning, the country was plunged into its third civil war. Pastàri separatists seized the moment to raise an army, remove the Kændàli lords, and replace the deposed government with the Ustàri Oligarchy that survives to this day. Rumors circled throughout the land that the High Lord was a Pastàri sympathizer. The High Lord made some efforts to quell the rebellion, but since few Kændàli lords or barons entrusted him with their soldiers, the effort was disastrous. He was born 211 DR in Kændal. He was crowned by the priests of Kændlan in 236 DR at Kyrm Or’Kændlan. He married a peasant named Ōddya in 229 DR in the Pastàri city of Gidðir. In preparation for his coronation, he was required to remarry Ōddya in 236 DR at Kyrm Or’Kændlan, under the Kændlàni Rites. He was assassinated in his carriage in 248 HK on the daylight streets of the City of Kændal. 2. High Lord Tasmyrn the First of Kændal. Unlike his father, Tasmyrn I was well-educated and prepared for the Living Crown when he was summoned to Kyrm Or’Kændlan. In deference to his mother, and because he recognized that the current war could not be won, he withdrew all Kændàli armies from Pastar, and signed the Treaty of Gidðir in 250 DR with all three rulers of the Oligarchy. He then turned his attention westward and began rebuilding the western fortresses that protect the Fertile Coast from the Ortor. His domestic agenda involved government support for ship-building, and incentives for merchant guilds to establish trade routes from Panæð to Taldàna. He was born 230 DR in Kændal, the eldest of six surviving children. He was crowned by the priests of Kændlan in 248 DR at Kyrm Or’Kændlan. He married Lady Tanāda Mèrkur in 256 DR at Kyrm Or’Kændlan. Tanāda bore him three healthy children before dying in childbirth with the fourth in 262 DR. Tasmyrn I had a giant sepulcher erected in Kændal harbor in her memory. Bonfires were kept burning day and night upon the sepulcher until his death nineteen years later. He died in 281 DR at Kry Kærdàgal, Kændal. The Living Crown passed to his daughter…
3. High Lady Tanāda the First of Kændal. Tanāda the Heretic Tanāda I made a number of changes during her reign. Her first matter of business was to summon the Ustàri Oligarchy once again to rework the Treaty of Gidðir. During the reign of her father, the Ortor raids had lessened across Kændal, but had increased along the borders of Pastar and Ōlood. Raiders into those countries were then able to turn southward, thus circumventing the Kændal’s western defenses. The Second Treaty of Gidðir was signed in 283 DR, and permitted Kændal to erect and maintain forts along the western border of Pastar. In exchange, Pastar agreed to several favorable trading agreements with Kændal. The second and most dramatic change that Tanāda I made involved the Temple of Kændlan. Following the Council of Horkòral in 285 DR, the High Lady enacted wide-ranging taxes and land-seizures upon the Temple. The Kændlàni Rebellion was the result. Following the execution of the High Priestess, Tanāda I descended into madness and was abandoned by her cabinet. She was born 257 DR in Kændal. She was crowned by priests of Kændlan in 281 DR at Kyrm Or’Kændlan. She never married. She died in 289 DR at a chapel in Kry Kærdàgal, Kændal. The Living Crown passed to her brother…
4. High Lord Gāírmar the Second of Kændal. Gāírmar II began ruling before being crowned. Once it became obvious that his sister was incapable of rule, the lords of Kændàlyr rallied behind the heir apparent. The reign of Gāírmar II was unremarkable, which following that of his sister, may indeed be remarkable in itself. He maintained the western fortifications and made some small compromises with the Pryr Kændlan to improve relations. He was born 259 DR in Kændal. He married Lady Nâna Burnèðyrin in 282 DR. He was crowned in a solemn ceremony by the priests of Kændlan in 289 DR at the Great Gate of Kry Kærdàgal. Following the ceremony, Gāírmar II carried the withered corpse of the High Priestess through the City of Kændal and handed it over to the priests of Kyrm Or’Kændlan for proper burial.
