First Panæði House of Zyan

630 HK – 158 DR. First Panæði House of Zyan. House of Indàr Zyan the First of Sēmàra through…

Upon the death of Queen Urádonōa I, the Cult of Pæð was determined to find another line as popular as the House of Kaðìl-Zadar. While some individuals of the House were not well-received, all benefited from their connection to the slave Queen Hazîr I. With this in mind, the ancient diagrams, sigils, and artifacts were studied and the priests began the elaborate divinations that had located the mar eárad over three hundred years before. After extensive study, the priests determined that the old formula was a fraud. Without direction, emissaries were sent to Jædð to once again solicit the services of the Pryr Sūdul. The Cult of Sūdul sent a contingent of seers to Panæð. After weeks of bleedings, examinations, and rituals the Pryr Sūdul reported that there were no worthy candidates.

Despite the popularity of Queen Hazîr I there was great resistance to Crowning a foreigner. Rulership within a given city-state was an important cornerstone of self-determination and independence within the Empire. Choosing a ruler from outside the bounds of the state diluted this power, and undermined the influence of the Cult (because outsiders were not likely faithful to Pæð). After much debate it was agreed that within a short span of generations, given marriages with established local Houses, the identity of any lineage would be subsumed by local influences (e.g., state and cult). With this decided, the diagrams were redrawn, the relics were rearranged, and the search expanded to include the entire Empire. Guided by the Sūdulyr, a revised augury suggested a minor Lord in the Kændàli province of Sēmàra. For an undisclosed sum, the Living Crown released Lord Indàr Zyan from his duties, rights, and lands. The noble sailed to Panæð and was crowned king.
