Tiki Ikìttir

The Mantid Kingdom

It is an uncommon Yrūn that chooses to willingly visit the City of Irqik. One walks slowly and cautiously down the wide stone avenues, built for creatures both wider and taller than common Mortals. As one passes among them, queer faceted eyes look down from triangular heads mounted atop long pitched bodies. Awkward but powerful legs propel them quickly and silently across the old, elaborate mosaics of stone. Translucent wings raise like hackles in flightless rage. Smallish forelimbs claw impotently at the cold air. There was a time when all flesh-kind were slaves or cattle. Today, agreements with foreign governments and guilds allow such creatures to travel the ancient streets without hindrance. Despite these assurances, accidents happen. It is sometimes difficult (or inconvenient) to distinguish between associates and livestock. Such are the hazards of ambassadors to Tiki Ikìttir.

Tiki Ikìttir has experienced something of a cultural revolution within the last 130 years. Before this time, the Ikítikírittìk had no positive relations with outside races or governments. So it had been since the end of the Second Age, when the Zirak the Ice King vanished from the world, leaving the Ikítikírittìk without direction. In the Ages since, the mantidae have warred and raided with their neighbors in search of slaves and livestock to slake their murderous hunger. Their hunger has not changed, nor is it negotiable. Those wishing to deal with the insectoid country, have had to address certain moral dilemmas. The Dwürden for instance, have been uniformly opposed to all dealings with the Ikítikírittìk based on the existence of livestock-pits where their kind (and others) are raised for food. The Burning Hand Trading Guild on the other hand, has welcomed the opportunity to open business relations with the skilled Ikítikírittìk. There are rumors that the guild has been supplying Tiki Ikìttir with slaves and/or livestock, captured from ships of the Fivèndam League.
