The Burning Crescent
The Burning Crescent consists of those southeastern Lyràsti shores that border the seas of Zalū and Julūn. The origin of the name is debated. Some believe it stems from the active volcanic mountains that reach from southern Jadàkða to northern Kir Julūn. Others claim that it refers to a historical event, when the Urzàri temples were burned to the ground during the Rise of Jūl. The region was famously torn apart by war again and again over the centuries, until the Zalūni conqueror Kujl Zjalū united the Four Lands at sword-point. The region’s thirst for conquest has long been a thorn to its neighboring regions (e.g., Finger Kingdoms, The Shūlū, Yatàri Archipelago).

The Yrūn of the Burning Crescent are believed to bear a strong resemblance to the those that originally left the Land of Emer. Regional natives typically have thick frames, dark features, and stand taller (5,9 ft. – 6 ft.) than their Vulmùryr counterparts. Their eyes are considered narrow by Vulmùri standards and range in color from hazel to greens and blues. Violet colored eyes are present but uncommon. Southeast Lyràsti hair is typically black and straight, with beards and mustaches being rare. It is so rare in fact that facial hair is usually viewed as evidence that a person is not native to the Crescent.
