Damràdâ

Town Overview

An unlikely location for a thriving community, the town of Damràdâ sits at the base of the Stairs of Damra.

Landmarks

  • Shrine of Damra (Temple of the Blood). A line of pilgrims form a winding line up a mountainside in eastern Ziljànir. A stone staircase clings to the sheer stone walls, crossing back and forth across the mountain’s face. At the top stands a beautiful temple of red and blue stone. Round prismatic windows fill the air with color, beckoning weary pilgrims to the top of the high staircase. It was here that the Apostle Damra brought a bloodied fragment of the robes of Irzàla and laid it in a high cave. From this place, Damra invited worshipers from every Æzàlar province and lands beyond the Great Esh. Preaching of peace, blessing, forgiveness, and good fortune, Damra’s message resonated with listeners far and wide. Today, the priests of the Shrine of Damra still read from her ancient scrolls. Unlike other Temples of the Blood, the Shrine of Damra accepts pilgrims of all faiths. This openness and the Apostle’s positive message may explain why hundreds and sometimes thousands of travelers make the harrowing journey across the northern desert every day.
  • Stairs of Damra. Long switch-backed staircase carved into the mountainside outside the town. The stairs are used to by pilgrims and priests to reach the Shrine of Damra.
