Perhaps the most street-savvy man in the Jaris neighborhood is Solem the Barkeep. Proprietor of a ramshackle bar with a disreputable moniker, The Red Cock offers an oasis of calm in an otherwise lawless community. That is not to say that his establishment does not get boisterous from time-to-time, but there are rarely murders or other gross crimes committed on the premises. This peculiar status quo has led many to believe that Solem has strong ties to either the Derékaln or Merchants’ Guild (if not both). A third possibility is that Solem has ties to neither, but uses the widespread suspicion of ties to his advantage.
