Elohim
In many respects, the Eðérim are very similar to the antipodean Neðérim. Though the denizens of the Ethereal are rarely defined as demons, they share many of the same qualities that set them far outside the realm of the Waking. Some Circles (i.e., Kavàllūn) and scholars have theorized that the Eðérim and Neðérim are identical in most respects (i.e., form, morality, purpose) and that it is the Veils themselves that color their manifestations into forms that the Waking interpret as angelic or demonic. This interpretation is not well received by the Cults, many of whose doctrines are supported by the idea of contrasting Lands Invisible.
The Eðérim are alien in most respects. They do not perceive the World in the same manner as the Waking. They do not require nourishment in the same manner as the Waking. They do not live and breath as the Waking do. Their needs and motivations are completely different.
Physiology
The introduction of Yur Yarg’s Eyes of the Invisible (ka shùrt orádra Inkàðura), an Arcane Weaving that reveals the Outsiders’ true forms, tossed many theories about the appearance of Neðérim and Eðérim aside. The wizard Yur Yarg developed a lens capable of seeing the Outsiders’ true forms. According to his notes, he used the lens on captured Neðérim without discovering anything truly groundbreaking. It wasn’t until he was able to find and capture an Eðérim specimen that the wizard’s notes devolved into mindless word salad. The Codex Yur Yarg, a compilation of his final notes, resides in Salóndor College in Kændal.
Dissolution occurs when an Eðérim’s Waking form loses connection with the Ethereal. Because a constant flow of magic permits the Eðérim to manifest a material body, an interruption of that magic causes the body to decompose into its Waking elements. Dissolution is normally achieved by severing the creature’s Celestial Cord. Only spells and weapons that are attuned to Vorgòstra can affect the threads that bind creatures to their home Worlds.

Language
The Eðérim share a haunting language called Eðéric.
Magic
The Eðérim do not use magic in the same manner as the Waking. All Eðéri magic is dependent on their tie to the Ethereal. An Eðéryn whose connection to the Ethereal is broken, cannot access magic and will likely face Dissolution (rf. Physiology). An Eðéryn that has uninterrupted access to Ethereal is a powerful ally or adversary.
