City of Domes
One of the few cities built in the Fiery Isthmus‘ interior is the Dari city of Dirynayna Dyada. The original city was built within the confines of a square curtain wall but it eventually outgrew this artificial constraint. The present city consists of a series of walled wards that have grown out from the original. The most outstanding feature of the city is the great central temple where the reliquary of Aybraykas the Giver (rf. Abràkus) lies to this day.
Dirynayna Dyada was built from blocks quarried from white coastal regolith, and the city is composed of hundreds of box-shaped buildings topped with windowed domes. Despite limited building materials, there is a great deal of variety in the shape, size, and ornamentation of city buildings. Most ornamentation is present only at street level, adorning doorways and windows. The buildings are packed tightly within the city walls, leaving only narrow avenues and alleys in which to move around. Due to this limitation of space, steeds and burden animals are not brought within the walls.
