Foreword
You came here seeking the solitude of the lower library. There are few places so quiet, so remote. Now your vision swims like a drowning man straining to see the sky through churning waves. Your ears are filled with the sounds of the dead, calling for you from their deep and hollow places. If only the floor and the walls would stop slipping away, you wouldn’t have to hold so tightly to the table. Despite the growing abyss inside you, you are reaching again for the slender bone pipe and the sweet promising smell of eçaba. Only one more slow drag from that carved stem and the Feyri will carry you away to dance with them forever. Soon, the blue smoke curls from your lips and the world shudders a final time. As your escorts dance you toward oblivion, you wonder whether you’ll ever be found. With your passing, all that is left in the dark corner is a small bone pipe and an abandoned volume that includes all entries from Ça through Çi.
