In 623 DR, Tyrána married a young merchant named Sorçān Dēsàdda. The two worked tirelessly on Sorçān’s businesses and within three years, the young man was invited to join the Merchants’ Guild of Oð. Bolstered by new contacts and privileges, Sorçān’s businesses continued to grow. When Sorçān was called away from Genter, Tyrána ably ran all matters of the couple’s enterprise. In 627 DR, Sorçān became owner of a brothel called the House of Delights. Sorçān forbid Tyrána to visit the business, claiming it was unsafe. One evening, Tyrána followed her husband and discovered that his “regular Guild meeting” was in fact a visit to the brothel. Tyrána searched through the establishment until she found Sorçān and other Guild members, and proceeded to break furniture, tear down curtains, and jab the men with burning lamps. She nearly set fire to the House before she could be restrained. The Patron Lord of Genter called upon Sorçān to deal with Tyrána and remove her from their business interests. Tyrána hired an Oðári litigant and sued for a portion of Sorçān’s interests, which she had helped create. In response, Sorçān offered the House of Delights to his wife, believing that she wouldn’t accept and his terms would be met in good-faith. To her husband’s dismay, Tyrána accepted the House, the separation, and a small coffer of coins. That evening, she moved into the House of Delights and endeavored to make it the most successful brothel in southern Oð.
One of the reasons the House of Delight has been successful, is that it does not fall under the control and duties of the Patron Lord of Genter, a seat now filled by her ex-husband. Their Orders of Separation prohibit obligations be made against one another. Because it operates independently, it has become a popular meeting place for many different groups (e.g., Derékaln, Merchants’ Guild, Poisoners) and factions.
Tressta’s notes: Madam of Genter. Large unattractive woman who wore long animal furs even in the heat of summer, graying hair tied back with a sculpted black-wood comb. Had a lard wardrobe of heavy velvet dresses. Tyrána ruled the House of Delights with an iron fist. The house sat precariously on the edge of the Dagger Peninsula, partially supported by heavy timbers reaching out from an eroding sea-cliff. She was a well-respected businesswoman in Genter and her “home” was often used as safe common-ground for enemies to meet and discuss issues. Tyrána maintained a small guard of five mercenaries to keep the peace. She had a large black dog named Kyrç (i.e, Kyrçul) which was trained to a) mount people for bestial pleasure / punishment, and b) be a vicious guard dog. Tyrána had a dozen women and one or two men working for her at any time. The house was maintained by a small team of orphans, that were probably accidental offspring of past employees.
