Merchant of Damdan
- Born: 620 DR

A low-ranking member of the Merchants’ Guild, Kirdràn Sammas is a protégé of Ðattàs Milíssar, a Sulyàrdi luxury goods importer. Kirdran is a connoisseur of pipeweed, cheeses, and wines. A handsome and engaging gentleman, Kirdran is always perfectly dressed and coiffed. His otherwise impeccable comportment is broken by spells of twitching and isolated seizures in his face and extremities. The effect is disturbing. Kirdran usually just smiles or clenches his teeth until the tremors pass, then apologizes before continuing.
Kirdran lives in the Damdan neighborhood of Sulyard. He is separated from his wife and estranged from his two children, Vâla and Mænyn. At least that’s the story he tells. Shortly after Kirdran’s wife learned about his extramarital affairs the couple separated. Kirdran explained that his wife and children left to live in a second apartment in the Kreyard, but he is ambiguous about the location. His wife’s family initiated an investigation into their disappearance but the Merchant Guard detectives quickly closed the case, assuring the family that the wife and children were fine and did not want to be contacted. A week later, the “Oðàri Hammer” reported that more bodies had been found in the Kre Dùlnar, bound in blankets and heavy freight cords. Finding bodies is not uncommon in the City’s harbor, except that of three, two appeared to be children. The family of Kirdran’s wife petitioned the Merchant Guard to examine the finds but were told that the finds had been already been identified and buried. This chain of events transpired before Kirdran’s poisoning. Merchants’ Guild members familiar with the events believe that Kirdran must have called-in tremendous favors and will remain in the thrall of Ðattàs Milíssar for years to come.
Kirdràn Sammas is a member of the Merchants’ Guild of Oð, subordinate to Ðattàs Milíssar, under the Patron Lord of Sulyard, Vol Rādān.
Tressta’s notes: Early-thirties, handsome gentleman, dark graying hair, pipe smoker. Kirdran seems driven and business-conscious and has been called away from pleasures by business. He was more open and genuine than many of Tressta’s customers. Tressta believed his honesty would be his downfall. Kirdran worked for Ðattàs Milíssar, a powerful Sulyàrdi merchant that oversaw many luxury imports into the City (e.g., pipeweed, wine). Most recently Kirdran seemed nervous and described a dinner party Milíssar held for his rivals under the pretense of building a trade collective. The wine was poisoned and unsuspectingly, Kirdran sipped from his. The sip was not fatal but resulted in permanent facial and body twitches. Milíssar apologized but explained that secrecy had been necessary. Kirdran wants revenge. Encounters: More than 6
