- First Appearance: Oðári Tales #5, The Minion
Alō was the daughter of Pryn Sūdul Gara Madrælō and proprietor of the Dreaming House inn in Oð. Her father, an immigrant from Tassèrus, sailed the length of the Mar Dèkali in search of the “recurring shadow” that slashed across his every walk in Dream. When he first saw the turning Wheel of Kyrm Oryroð he knew that he’d found the shadow’s source. Gara disembarked and settled in the City of Iron, interpreting dreams for the aimless Oðyr. He founded the Dreaming House, a small inn where people could sleep and dream peacefully. Soon he met a pleasant Oðári woman and together they had a daughter, Alō.
Alō was tormented by nightmares throughout her childhood. More than once, her father sought passage back to the Dreamlands of Tassèrus, but with everything invested in the Dreaming House, he had no money to spare. The nightmares subsided once Alō became school-aged. At the same time, the young girl also began showing a talent for Leðúra. Rising from deep sleep, she would sometimes follow the streaming dreams of guests to their source, before waking and realizing she was lost. On one occasion, her mother went looking for her, but was never seen again. Afterward, Gara tied Alō to her bed when guests arrived. As she grew into adulthood, her father taught her the art of seeing and interpreting dreams. Upon reaching adulthood, Gara conveyed the Dreaming House to Alō and instructed her on how to preserve his body in a Leðúri sarcophagus. She followed his instructions to the letter, sealed his vessel behind a wall in the basement, and sent his spirit into Leðúrēa.
