Wizard of the Crypt
- Birth: ca. 331 DR, Oð
- Death: 390 DR
- First Appearance: NA
Agymar Madkurð is thought to have been born in the City of Oð about the year 331 DR. By most accounts, his work was purchased from a Sulyard orphanage, along with eleven other boys, by a group of gentlemen representing a manufacturing interest. Slave-contracts were common at the time and justified as a means of keeping children off the streets and teaching them valuable skills. His name next appears in 349 DR when his contract was purchased by a representative of the Drāgyr Eldrā. It is guessed that he was purchased for the purpose of domestic help. In 352 DR, the Eldri magician Sarkàrēus the Cruel accepted the young adult Agymar as an apprentice, and retained his services for almost twenty years. When Sarkàrēus died in 371 DR, the Eldri Circle promoted Agymar and three fellow apprentices as full members. The general thought was that the master retained his students for far too long.
Madkurð did not travel. He did nothing to make him famous. He did not fail spectacularly. The only reason his name is known at all is because of the long list of spells he authored during his years as a full member of the Drāgyr Eldrā.
The Crypt
In the last years of his life, he devoted himself and what resources he had to developing a crypt to preserve his final remains. The crypt was engineered with a devious array of wards and traps to stymie even the most ingenious tomb raider. Upon his death in 390 DR, his body was deposited into his marvelous crypt and per his wishes, the wards and traps were activated. The crypt now lies behind three sets of metal gates at the bottom of a long staircase beneath the Eldri Hall. The Eldri magicians are not opposed to letting adventurers try their hands at Madkurð’s tomb, but few have tried for there is nothing of value within it. Agymar Madkurð spent all his worldly wealth developing the crypt itself.
