Empires

Edabahl stopped to grab a fistful of sand and let it stream between his fingers. He closed his eyes and remembered when this was fertile ground, with crops as far as they could see. He returned here now in search of answers, answers that had been left to others more schooled than he. Answers which he never received. How many years had it been? Five, six centuries? His wide eyes narrowed to slits as he looked the sun above him, it’s shape blurred by the blowing dust. His past unfurled around him and again he could smell the sea. A city rose upon the distant shore as warships plowed through sapphire waves. Above them the glowing sails of their ships were filled with summoned wind, propelling them forward at unnatural speed. Around him a host of Immortal soldiers crowded the decks, wondering if anything in this adopted world could be worth dying for. Beyond them, he could see the decks of other ships, too many ships to count, too many soldiers wondering how the night would end. As the ships drew near the first wave of Dekàli magicians lifted into the air above the city and began drawing upon the magics of ancient pacts. The night grew pale and the stars disappeared as magics streamed through the air. Somewhere beyond the magicians, their towers, their armies, and their dark temple lay the most fearsome enemy, a being that remembered when the Eylfāe came to this land. Edabahl poured the remaining sand from his hand and looked at the desert around him. He had always thought victory was supposed to be different.

Time Line of Empires

An empire is a nation comprised of other states or cultures whose control has been gained by military, political, or spiritual coercion. The rise and fall of empires are like waves on the sea of history. Hundreds of minor empires have appeared and vanished over the Ages that cannot be addressed here. What are included are those empires for whom history has deemed memorable, whether due to their accomplishments, contributions, or notoriety.

Empires of the Dwürden

Empires of the Eylfāe

Empires of the Gnor

Empires of the Ortor

Empires of the Sha’al

Though most Mortal races do not remember the Shiru Empire, the Sha’al remember little else. Before the Dekàlans laid claim to the lands beyond the Thundering Isles, the Shiru Empire had claimed and lost vast swaths of Tassèrus and Teréðor. The only remnants of this ancient culture are the kingdoms of Tsenbh and Greater Sha’ala.

Empires of the Yrūn

When most think of ancient history, they think of the days when the great Dekàlan armies sailed across the seas to land and conquer distant shores. While those days are indeed old and their tales grown wide with age, the story of the Old Empire is by no means the only one. Millennia before Terrud first set foot upon the mainland of Teréðor a dozen or more empires had risen and fell across the Yrūn ages. His was not to be the first and would not be the last kingdom spanning nation. It is impossible to understand an empire without studying those that came before, for only then can you fathom the aspirations of the tyrants to follow.

Each of the following nations contributed in some way to Yrūn civilization as a whole and in turn have helped shaped the World of Teréth End for all the races that live there.
