Hero Thief of Oð
- Birth: Unknown
- Death: Unknown
- First Appearance: NA
Gerrìt Kaln was a 13th century HK rogue that roamed the streets of Oð causing trouble for himself and others. Court records of his exploits from the time, which are now locked away in the vaults of Kryr Shùrulm, show petty activities like: clipping, purse-snatching, drunkenness, wanton excess, and a few burglaries. None of these would appear to make Gerrit a character worthy of historical note. Many lives changed with the Occupation of Oð following the Second Acèntyra-Dekàli War, Gerrit’s was no different. At some point during the war, the petty thief was transformed into a folk-hero. Many characters emerged during this difficult time, but most were discovered by the Eylfāe overlords and made examples of. Gerrit managed to elude the Governorship for many years and is believed to have escaped imprisonment at least twice. During this time, an organization formed around Gerrit known as the Hands of Kaln. Countless thieves and insurgents joined its ranks forming one of the first organized resistance movements in the North Coast. Overt acts of defiance were soon attributed to Gerrit on a weekly basis. Although it was impossible to tell who was actually committing the acts, the folk-hero was credited over and over. The populace of Oð eventually found hope in Gerrit’s antics and became more bold in their contempt for the Occupiers.
It is unclear when Gerrit died. It is believed that he died before the Occupation’s end since there is no record of him afterward. Oðyr prefer to believe that he retired quietly in the Westfields with untold treasures stolen from the Eylfāri government.
