Vældyrim of Roð
- Birth: Unknown
- Death: 410 DR
- First Appearance: NA
As seasons change, so does the Kre Dùlnar, Oð’s notoriously dangerous harbor. Not only do the beaches shift, cliffs crumble, and the skeletal remains of sunken ships appear and disappear beneath crashing waves, but also appearing from time to time is a white stone box at the base of the Kreyard wall. When the tides pull the sand from the base of the harbor’s western wall, it sometimes reveals a large crypt erected for the woman for whom the harbor is named.
Edye Dulnar was an early priestess of Roð who is believed to be the first of the Cult faithful to have received visions of The Machine, eight hundred years before the project was begun. The priestess spent years detailing her complex visions upon long scrolls. Others viewed her writings and diagrams with great interest. It was determined from an early stage that her insight was divinely inspired. It was also obvious that the plans were incomplete and would require years (if not decades) to finish. As the years accumulated, the task began to take a visible toll on the priestess. Her health failing, the priests of Roð confined her to a bed where she could be brought sustenance, receive visions, and continue transcribing the word of Roð. It is not clear whether the complexity of the project or the sheer scale and dedication required to be the god’s messenger destroyed her body, but in 410 HK priestess Dulnar left the care of the temple and jumped into the Harbor of Oð, killing herself.
When her body was found, the temple was outraged. Eventually it was determined that despite this interruption, the priestess was a chosen messenger of Roð and should be honored accordingly. Her broken body was interred in Kyrm Oryroð while a crypt was erected on the spot where she had died.
