Introduction

In the early part of the Third Age, an Ogdàr Jorn named Oggàmmad the Merciless rose to power in the mountains of the northern Tukumun Empire. Known as the “Ice King”, Oggàmmad was able to raise an army of Ogdar and Murdrū warriors, which he used to sack several towns before his Hordes were stopped. Most notable about this campaign was the use of winter storms to bury the populace before the armies arrived. Observers of the aftermath reported livestock buried under towering snowdrifts, families frozen in place as they huddled by their fires, and ships at harbor crushed between boulders of ice. The Ogdar tell how the Ice King was able to summon arctic winds and blizzards upon his foes.

The armies of Tukumun were eventually able to move against the Ice King and his armies with the support of their Içrāe Eylfārehl benefactors.

Though the powers of Oggàmmad may have been exaggerated over the centuries, he is believed to have been a powerful magician and perhaps the first of his kind. Today, the Ogdàr Jorn associate their Ice King with the elemental forces of winter.
