City of the Faceless Kings

Once the jewel of Yrūni civilization, the City of Tük now stands a flickering shadow of its former splendor. Where columned temples and stone plazas one stood, now crumbled foundations lay covered in a blanket of shanties and hide tents. Where fountains once dazzled travelers with dancing water and beautiful sculptures, communal fires burn where desperate and illiterate inhabitants gather to cook food and dispose of waste and bodies. The only order exists in the hands of tribal chieftains who have carved the wretched landscape into small domains intent on controlling scarce resources. Somewhere among the destitute masses is believed to live the sole living heir of the Tūkùmuni Empire, waiting in squalid obscurity for the moment to rise and unify the people once again. This legend has circulated for centuries along the avenues of Tük. Wiser men have suggested that even if the heir does exist, why would he want to lay claim such a place?
